Ayra Starr Calls for Energy Access for African Children
This year, the Global Citizen Festival is taking action to create energy access for one million people across Africa.
Ayra Starr aligned with this mission, shared her own story of growing up in Nigeria, where electricity wasn’t always available.
“We didn’t always have power,” she recalled. “Sometimes I had to wait until 6 p.m. just to catch an episode of Hannah Montana. I was lucky, some children in Africa don’t have light at all.”
She emphasized how energy is essential for children to learn, dream, and thrive.
“Kids need power to study, to practice, to reach their dreams, and to watch their favorite shows. That’s why energy matters. Join us in taking action to bring power to over a million kids, so no one is left in the dark.”
She then performed “All the Love,” closing her heartfelt message of hope.

Ayra Starr also expressed her gratitude for performing at the Global Citizen event for the second time and shared her excitement about seeing Shakira and Cardi B live.
