The Nigerian singer recently returned with a new banger, and fans were already streaming it before the artist officially acknowledged the release.
Fireboy DML has officially dropped his second single of the year, Dopamine, and the response has been immediate. Released on July 24, the track arrived with a stylish visualizer and was made available across major streaming platforms.
Dopamine is set to a soft, mid-tempo Afro-fusion rhythm and takes a very introspective tone. The singer opens the song with moody vocalizations that ease the listener into the track. Fireboy later sings, “Dopamine, dopamine / Give it to me, give it to me / All over me, pour it all over me,” as he explores themes of emotional craving, detachment, and romantic confusion.

Within hours of the release, fans began reacting online. Some even playfully teased Fireboy for taking his time to announce it. “You’re late to the party, my GOAT. 😂💙 We’ve been disturbing the neighborhood with this masterpiece,” one fan joked.
Another echoed that sentiment, writing, “U no see say dopamine dey trend since yesterday sir, u just wake?” A third person added, “You just dey wake up? 😂❤️”
Despite the playful jabs, most reactions were overwhelmingly positive. One listener declared, “You too good 😭❤️❤️❤️,” while another added, “Been jamming it all night broski 😭🙂↔️”
A netizen simply stated, “Bro you’re a fireboy fr.” Others praised the track’s quality and vibe, with one writing, “No worry you released the best song this year already 😛,” and another remarking, “Good music, good vibes only. I am there!”
“Thanks for this beautiful song and I’m proud of your hard work 💯,” someone else commented, reflecting the mood across multiple platforms. Another supporter wrote, “Stream aggressively 😭😭”
The accompanying visualizer, directed by Bankole, begins with the literal definition of dopamine. It ties the title to its neurological meaning: a chemical linked to motivation, reward, and pleasure.
Set on a rooftop terrace at dusk, the visuals feature a soft-lit silhouette of Fireboy DML wearing a dark vest, red tie, Bantu knots, and tinted sunglasses. The video also features a woman, who plays his love interest, dancing in the background. Their movements are, at times, deliberate and slow, matching the song’s restrained energy.
Dopamine follows Fireboy’s earlier 2025 single, Story, a collaboration with American production duo Take A Daytrip. Released under the Sprite Limelight session, the song blended Afrobeats with alt-R&B and experimental pop.
