Popular Nigerian crossdresser, Okuneye Idris, widely known as Bobrisky, has reportedly fallen ill while in detention at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Alagbon, Lagos. The incident occurred after Bobrisky spent a night in police custody.
Newsmen revealed that the Police transferred Bobrisky to the Falomo Police Hospital for treatment after complaining of chest pain.
“Bobrisky complained of ‘breast’ pain and was rushed to the Police Hospital in Falomo around 2:00 p.m.,” the source stated. “He was transported in an ambulance with the plate number LND 339L, dressed in a black gown, with his face covered by a shawl.”
Bobrisky’s Arrest
Officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) arrested Bobrisky on Monday night at the Seme border in Lagos. He was trying to leave the country. The NIS confirmed his arrest, describing Bobrisky as a “person of interest” and affirming that the incident was part of their ongoing border security efforts.
As investigations continue, there are suggestions that Bobrisky could remain in custody as the FCID seeks a remand order to extend his detention. The FCID is yet to release a formal statement on the situation.
How Bobrisky’s Escape Failed
Eyewitnesses state that Bobrisky arrived at the departure section of the Seme border around 1:30 a.m. on Monday in a black Mercedes Benz SUV.
Eyewitnesses revealed that Port Health officials initially tried to stop the vehicle. But the driver continued until they reached the Immigration checkpoint. Bobrisky reportedly handed his passport to the driver for stamping at the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) post.
While reviewing the passport, an immigration surveillance officer named Yusuf recognized Bobrisky as the individual inside the vehicle. Yusuf discreetly alerted the senior officer on duty. He called the Controller of Immigration for the Seme Command, Muhammad Adamu, to the scene. The officials asked Bobrisky to come to their surveillance unit to have his passport stamped and captured by their system. This made them escort him to the Controllers office who had him taken into custody.
Another eyewitness told newsmen that Bobrisky’s lawyer later arrived at Seme to inquire about the reasons for the arrest. Bobrisky remained in the controller’s office until 4 p.m. After that, they had him transferred to the Lagos State Command of the NIS for further investigation.
The Latest Cause Of Bobrisky’s Legal Issues
Bobrisky’s legal troubles stem from accusations made by popular social media influencer Vincent Otse, also known as Very Dark Man. Otse accused Bobrisky of bribing officials within the Nigerian Corrections Service to receive preferential treatment during his six-month prison sentence. He was convicted of defacing the Naira. The Nigerians Corrections Service is in trouble as there are rumours of them dismissing 0fficials due to the Bobrisky allegations.
How The Public Has Reacted To The Situation
The situation has caused divided opinions. Some Nigerians and the international community, especially on social media, interpret Bobrisky’s hospitalization as a tactic to buy time. They believe that if he was truly innocent, he would have stayed to defend himself. Others see it as an admission of guilt.
On the other hand, some argue that Vincent Otse is merely using the controversy to gain cheap publicity. Still, there is speculation that this entire saga could be a ploy to keep issues involving high-profile figures from exposure.
Ultimately, the truth behind these events remains uncertain, but time will reveal the real story. Many hope that the facts will eventually come to light, bringing clarity to the ongoing drama.
