After years of silence and relentless annual accusations, Nigeria’s billionaire Dr. Deji Adeleke has finally had enough and decided to address his son Davido’s DNA saga publicly.

The billionaire businessman Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, father of Afrobeats superstar Davido, held his first-ever press conference on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, to address the long-running paternity controversy involving his son and a 12-year-old girl named Mitchelle Anuoluwapo (Anu).

The controversy, which has resurfaced periodically since 2014, centers on claims by Anu’s mother, Grace Ayotomide Labinjoh (also known as Ayo Labinjoh), that Davido is the biological father of her daughter.

Why Dr. Adeleke Decided to Speak

Dr. Adeleke began the press conference by explaining his decision to break years of silence.

“I don’t use social media, and I don’t like talking to the press. I prefer to live quietly,” he said. “But enough is enough. This issue keeps coming up almost every year, and I felt it was time to set the record straight once and for all.”

Dr. Adeleke revealed that this was his first-ever press conference, underscoring the gravity of the situation.

How the Adeleke DNA Saga Started in 2014

Dr. Adeleke recounted how the family first became aware of the allegations in 2014 when he received a DHL package at his office from Ibadan.

The package contained photographs of Davido and the child, a birth certificate listing “Adeleke David” as the father, and a letter from the child’s grandmother requesting for the right judgement.

According to Dr. Adeleke the grandmother made it clear she wasn’t seeking marriage for her daughter. She only wanted him to make the right judgment.

In a gesture showing his willingness to accept the child if proven to be his grandchild, Dr. Adeleke said he immediately called the woman even before speaking to Davido.

He told her that if this child was truly his granddaughter, she had no problem with him. He would happily welcome her into the family.

Davido DNA Test Results

Dr. Adeleke provided detailed information about the extensive DNA testing process undertaken to establish paternity.

The First DNA Test at Vedic Lifecare Hospital

He arranged the first DNA test at Vedic Lifecare Hospital in Lekki, a hospital he regularly uses. Samples were taken from both Davido and the child using saliva swabs in a room with only Dr. Adeleke, Davido, the grandmother, the mother, and the child present.

The samples were sealed and sent to South Africa for analysis. Both Dr. Adeleke and the grandmother signed an agreement that they would both receive the results directly.

When the results came back, they showed 0.00% probability of paternity.

Rather than accepting just one test, Dr. Adeleke went the extra mile to ensure accuracy. The grandmother refused to accept the DNA results, so he suggested they conduct additional tests at places of their choosing, offering to pay for all expenses.

In total, five DNA tests were conducted, and all were negative.

The Grandmother’s Persistence After Negative DNA Results

Despite the negative DNA results, the child’s grandmother refused to accept the outcome and took further steps to try convincing the Adeleke family.

According to Dr. Adeleke, the grandmother:

  • Went to Dr. Adeleke’s sister’s place in Osun State (who worked at Adeleke University), asking them to prevail on him to accept that Davido fathered Anu
  • Approached the Ooni of Ife (the monarch of his hometown) to intervene in the matter
  • Argued to the Ooni that Davido had previously given money to the mother and that the girl’s light complexion should be enough proof without needing DNA testing

Shocking Revelation: Anu’s Mother Confessed to Sleeping with Another Man

Perhaps, the most significant revelation from Dr. Adeleke’s press conference was the information his sister gave him.

“My sister, Dr. Sikiru Adeleke, a lecturer at Adeleke’s University later told me that Ms. Anu’s mother had confided in her that she had slept with another man in Ibadan around the same period she was with Davido,” Dr. Adeleke disclosed.

According to him, the other man allegedly refused to submit to a DNA test because he was married and wanted to avoid the controversy.

This revelation adds another layer to the paternity dispute and raises questions about why the focus has remained solely on Davido despite the multiple negative DNA results and this confession.

Kemi Olunloyo’s Role in the Davido DNA Controversy

Dr. Adeleke addressed the recent resurgence of the controversy on social media, placing much of the blame on controversial journalist Kemi Olunloyo.

He revealed that Anu’s aunt, Titilayo (Titi) Labinjoh, who is based in Abuja, contacted him directly to distance the family from the social media posts.

According to Dr. Adeleke, the aunt told him:

  • Kemi Olunloyo was the one running Anu’s Instagram account
  • Neither she, Anu, her mother, nor any member of Anu’s family was behind the recent social media posts
  • The family had cut ties with Kemi Olunloyo
  • Olunloyo was using the family and the little girl to make money

Dr. Adeleke Calls Out Kemi Olunloyo

Dr. Adeleke didn’t hold back in his criticism of the controversial journalist, calling her a “lunatic” and “crazy.”

He accused Olunloyo of impersonating Anu’s social media accounts and publishing the DNA profiles of Davido and the child online, which raises serious privacy and security concerns.

He warned that the family is considering legal action against Olunloyo for impersonation, giving false information, and illegal control of social media accounts.

Adeleke Family’s Financial Support Despite Negative DNA Results

In a display of compassion, Dr. Adeleke revealed that the family has been providing financial support to the child and her mother despite the negative DNA results.

The support includes:

  • ₦50,000 monthly for the child’s upkeep
  • Full scholarship for Anu’s mother (Ayo Labinjoh) at Adeleke University
  • ₦50,000 bursary monthly while she was in university
  • Payment of the girl’s school fees

He added that Ayo Labinjoh was doing well at Adeleke University but dropped out after two years. The scholarship opportunity, he said, remains open for her if she chooses to return.

Ayo Labinjoh’s Response to Dr. Adeleke’s Claim

Following Dr. Adeleke’s press conference, Ayo Labinjoh responded with her own series of Instagram posts, pushing back against several of his claims.

Key points from her response include:

  • Denial of multiple DNA tests: She insists that only one DNA test was conducted in 2014, and she disputes its authenticity
  • Claims of improper testing: She alleges that blood was drawn from Anu in a private room where they were not allowed to enter, and that Davido’s sample was taken separately
  • Demands for a fresh DNA test: She continues to call for a new DNA test under mutually agreed conditions
  • Shock at her sister’s communication: She expressed surprise that her sister Titi had been in contact with Dr. Adeleke since 2020 without her knowledge
  • Accusations of intimidation: She accused the Adeleke family of trying to intimidate her and demanded that Davido address her directly

Conclusion

Dr. Deji Adeleke has spoken, presenting five negative DNA tests, a confession about another man, and evidence of financial support despite the results. Yet Ayo Labinjoh maintains her position and demands fresh testing.

As this saga continues, one question remains: Should science be the final word in paternity disputes, or is there room for doubt? At the center of it all is a 12-year-old girl who deserves clarity and peace above everything else.
