Davido just won another Best International Act award after competing with four different artists.
During the Liberian Entertainment Awards for 2026, Davido was awarded the Best International Act for the year. The ceremony took place at the Lisner Auditorium in Washington, D.C. on April 25, 2026. This isn’t his first time winning this category.
He won Best International Act at the BET Awards in 2018 when the category was first introduced. He also won BET’s Best African Act in 2014. So this Liberian
Who Davido Competed Against
Davido was up against Gunna, Rema, Tyla, and Fridayy.
Gunna is an American rapper who has worked with some of the biggest names in hip-hop. Tyla is the South African singer who won a Grammy this year for her hit song “Water.” Fridayy is an American R&B singer who’s been rising fast in the music scene. And Rema is his fellow Nigerian artist who’s been selling out shows around the world.
All of them are talented. All of them are doing big things right now but Davido walked away with the trophy.
Why Davido Stood Out at Liberian Entertainment Awards
Davido has been collaborating with major international artists for years. Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Meek Mill, Young Thug, the list goes on and he just announced he’s working on a joint EP Lauch with Chris Brown this year.
He has also performed on some of the biggest stages in the world like the Madison Square Garden in New York and London’s O2 Arena while consistently selling out his tickets. His 2023 performance at the BET Awards was so good that it’s been certified gold. People still talk about how he brought pure Afrobeats energy to that stage.
What’s the Liberian Entertainment Awards?
The Liberian Entertainment Awards started in 2009 to celebrate Liberian talent and recognize international acts who have made an impact. The awards cover music, film, fashion, sports, and community service. They celebrate both Liberian entertainers and the broader African diaspora.
This year’s ceremony was special because it was the “Return to Greatness” edition after a five-year break.
For Davido to win Best International Act here means something specific. The Liberian diaspora, like Nigeria’s, has always been connected to West African music. They know what real impact looks like. They’ve watched Afrobeats grow from a regional sound to a global force. And they chose Davido because he’s been one of the main people pushing that movement forward.
What This Win Actually Means
The trophy isn’t the story here.
The story is that after five years away, the Liberian Entertainment Awards came back and looked at the current state of global music, new hits, rising artists, all the Grammy moments and still chose the artist who’s been showing up since 2011.
That decision says a lot. It reflects the kind of impact Davido has built on the international stages and the level of consistency he has maintained over the years.
