Tiwa Savage Hunger Magazine New Album Era

In her Hunger Magazine cover story, Tiwa Savage spoke candidly about her latest album, This One Is Personal. The 15-track project was released on 29 August 2025, just hours before her headline show at London’s KOKO. For Tiwa, the record is different from anything she has put out before.

It’s the most vulnerable I’ve ever been on a record,” she told the magazine. “Every single record resonates with an experience I’ve gone through. It took two years for me to do this record.

Her openness came from necessity. She described a period of heartbreak that left her unable to record the upbeat music she initially planned.

A very, very bad heartbreak that nearly took me out. I started a whole other project … but in the studio I couldn’t connect. So I said to my team … It has to be a different type of album, because I’m carrying so much in me — I need to do this for me.

The London Show

The timing of the album’s release, hours before her London performance, gave Tiwa doubts about how the songs would land.

The album had just come out … I was like, Oh my God, they’re not going to sing along to the words … but people were really encouraging me. When you do stuff that is authentic to you, real to you, you win all the time.

The moment reassured her that audiences value honesty as much as hits.

Rejecting Limitations

Beyond the music, Tiwa spoke about the pressures that have followed her career. Some critics told her to “get married and rest,” or suggested she was “too old” to be signed. Her response was direct:

I used to resent my age … But now I see that there’s actually a reason. God is using me to encourage people beyond music. … Nothing anyone can tell me is gonna stop me from doing what I want to do.

The comments reflect her confidence in carving her own path and refusing to be boxed in by other people’s expectations.

Stepping Into Her Mogul Era

Looking forward, Tiwa is preparing for what she calls her “mogul era.” She laid out her vision clearly: “I want to open a music school in Nigeria, I want to go into skincare and I want to go into loungewear. I’m entering my mogul era.”

Her ambitions extend her influence beyond Afrobeats, creating avenues in education, fashion, and wellness. For Tiwa, this stage of her career is about building something lasting.

Closing Thoughts

The Hunger Magazine feature captures an artist unafraid to show her scars while also planning her empire. Tiwa Savage is still shaping the sound of Afrobeats, but with This One Is Personal and her mogul dreams, she’s also shaping her legacy.
