Afro Nation Portugal 2024, Stars to Watch Out for

Afro Nation Portugal is back for its fourth edition and it is coming to the beautiful Praia da Rocha beach in Portimão, Algarve from June 26-28th, 2024. The music festival celebrates African music, culture, and the global diaspora. Following the success of previous editions, this year’s event promises to be even more thrilling. Especially due to the awesome lineup of artists set to perform. Here are some of the biggest names you can expect to grace the stages this year:

Nicki Minaj – Headliner for Afro Nation Portugal 2024

Leading the charge as a headliner is the iconic Nicki Minaj herself. The Trinidadian-born rapper is one of the most influential female artists of her generation. She has been in the music scene for more than a decade, dropping hits like “Super Bass,” “Starships,” and “Anaconda.” Furthermore, her hyped-up performances and unmatched rap skills are sure to bring down the house at the Afro Nation Portugal.

Nigerian Afro-rave sensation Rema is definitely not slowing his pace after his successful run with “Calm Down,” which is one of the longest-charting African anthem on the Billboard Hot 100. The artist is now gearing up to perform at the Afro Nation Portugal event happening this month. He previously showcased that he could create an incredibly energetic live experience at Afro Nation 2022, where he covered most of his Rave & Roses album, including popular singles such as “Soundgasm”.

Asake – Artist for Afro Nation Portugal 2024

Mr. Money, Asake, became the breakout star of Afro Nation 2023 off the back of his smash album ‘Mr. Money With The Vibe.’ He has firmly established himself as a really good performer, selling out multiple shows including at the O2 Arena in London in August last year. His return to the Portugal festival is hotly anticipated by his rapidly growing fanbase.

J Hus

Repping the UK Afroswing scene is J Hus, known for his hit tracks like “Did You See” and “Lean & Bop.” The 28-year-old is signed to Black Butter Records and has been active since 2014. J Hus brings a whole lot of thrills to his festival sets and the audience who scored tickets to this Afro Nation event will get to witness it in the coming weeks.

Fally Ipupa

Democratic Republic of Congo’s iconic Fally Ipupa will surely be bringing his signature Lingala rumba and soukous sounds to Portugal’s shores. One of Africa’s most celebrated and influential artists, his irresistible grooves and showmanship are guaranteed to get the crowd moving. Don’t miss it.

Shallipopi

The viral Nigerian singer behind hits like “Elon Musk” and “Cast” is making his Afro Nation debut this year. Shallipopi’s rise has been meteoric, fueled by his versatile coverage of genres like Afrobeats and amapiano. Furthermore, his internet-breaking humor is also a plus, so expect a wildly entertaining set from him.

Supporting Acts

Rounding out the bill are heavy-hitters like French rapper Ninho, South African female soloist Tyla, Nigerian stars Omah Lay and Flavour, and a host of amapiano giants including Major League DJz, Uncle Waffles, and Focalistic, among others.
