A fight broke out at a Canadian mall involving Nigerian musician Portable, who was in Regina for an upcoming show. This incident happened just as he had landed a major role as the face of a Nigerian lottery company.
Portable, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola, was trying to shop when he got into an altercation with a local restaurant owner who was also organizing his Regina show. The restaurant owner wanted Portable to promote his business for free, but the latter refused. The singer described how things got bad even before he entered the mall, stating,
“Before we entered the mall, I exited the car, I was walking towards the door and this organizer of the Regina show drove right in front of me and if I didn’t step back he would have hit me.”
According to the 30-year-old artist, the situation escalated inside the mall. The restaurant owner demanded that Portable take pictures with every fan who approached him. To this, Portable refused once again, stating that he wanted to focus on shopping instead. But this time, things got violent. The singer claims that the organizer attacked both him and his promoter, AJ Bone, saying, “The organizer shoved and hit my promoter AJ Bone while he continued to threaten me, and then he hit me as well.”
In his caption on an Instagram post, where the details of the incident were revealed, he stated that security cameras had recorded everything and that the police are now investigating what happened.

While this drama unfolded in Canada, back in Nigeria, fans celebrated Nigerian musician Portable for a different reason. Leadership.ng reported that Awalife Nigeria Limited, a company that runs what they call an ethical lottery business, had just chosen him as their new brand ambassador. In a released statement, the company’s spokesperson, Prince Jothan, explained why they picked him.
“Despite his unique personality, Portable perfectly embodies the spirit of a social enterprise and aligns with Awalife’s core values.”
At Awalife, Portable joins a team of well-known Nigerian celebrities including Nkechi Blessing and Dr. Jaiye Kuti. The company is known for its “Winner Guarantee Lottery” system, which promises fair play and daily wins for participants.
Born and raised in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the very controversial artist left school to chase his music dreams. After working in the music industry for more than ten years, he finally got his big break in 2021 with the song “Zazu Zeh,” which he made with famous Nigerian artist Olamide and dancer Poco Lee.
