Black Sherif wins Best West African Artiste at 16th Headies Awards

Black Sherif won the Best West African Artiste Of The Year award on Sunday, 3rd September 2023, at the 16th edition of the Headies Awards.

The Best West African Artiste category is set to reward artists who have contributed and impacted enormously to the music scene and originate from the West African region. He was nominated alongside artists like Camidoh, Gyakie, both from Ghana and The Therapist from Liberia.

Black Sherif showed his utmost gratitude to his fans worldwide upon receiving the award, especially those from Africa, Nigeria and Ghana. Last but not least, he remembered his hometown Konongo Zongo, as he mentioned them too.


The artist gained further international recognition after collaborating with Burna Boy, the global Afrobeats sensation, on his famous song ‘Second Sermon’ remix. He has not stopped since then, with several tours, international shows, and performances. It is no mystery how his hard work is beginning to pay off with some awards.


Asake, Black Sherif, Blaqbonez, Young John, Spyro, Seyi Vibez and FireBoyDML are also some of the artists who performed eccentrically to light up the awards night.

The 16th edition of the annual Headies Awards, 2023, occurred at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, USA.

The Awards night celebrated African music’s hard work, achievement and rising prominence of various global artists. Black Sherif went on to celebrate with his Empire team in San Francisco for the milestone he had achieved. His fans are thrilled by his wins and can only wish the best for the artiste.
