by D.Sark

Black Sherif is in the news again for getting a nomination in the Best International Flow Category for Bet HipHop Awards 2023. The ‘Kweku The traveller’ hit maker got nominated alongside artists like Aka and K.O from South Africa, Sampa The Great from Zimbabwe, Gazo (France), Ninho (France), Central Cee (UK), J Hus (UK), Major Rd (Brazil), and Tasha & Tracie (Brazil).

Nominations were announced on Thursday, September 7, 2023 and as usual, Ghana was honoured to have one of theirs in the category. Sarkodie, the arguably best rapper from Ghana and Africa, won the maiden one when the category was first introduced in 2019, which makes it a remarkable achievement in the rapper’s career, among many others. The award show will be its 18th annual edition and showcase the genre’s brightest talents. This year’s will occur in Atlanta on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.

This nomination would not be the first for Black Sherif in the category. He was first nominated in the 2022 edition but lost the Award to Benjamin Epps from France. The nominees who made it to the list last year were Benjamin Epps (France) Central Cee (UK), Blxckie (South Africa), Haviah Mighty (Canada), Knucks (UK), Le Juiice (France), Nadia Nakai (Zimbabwe), and Tasha & Tracie (Brazil).

21 Savage and Cardi B lead in the number of nominations for this year with 12 nominations, while Drake is right behind with nine. DJ Khaled and Burna Boy each have seven nods, while J. Cole has six. Jay-Z, Coi Leray, and GloRilla follow with five apiece. This year’s nominations include a diverse crowd of proven veterans, rising rookies, thriving producers, and overseas leaders.
Black Sherif won the Best West African Artiste recently at the 16th Headies Awards early this month and there he goes again, bagging another nomination. We wish him all the best in the quest to win the award this year.
