Almost through the first half of 2024 and we’re still getting blessed with some really cool Afro-centric events covering music, art, fashion and more! While some hot tickets have already come and gone, there are still a few on the way that you can’t afford to miss.

So get ready to witness fresh creative energy, dope artistry, and all-around good vibes emanating from these standout events in Nigeria. Let’s dive in!

Alali: Afro Karaoke Sing Along with Pottery & Unlimited Cocktails

Have you dreamed of channeling your inner pop star while sipping endlessly on cocktails and getting messy with clay? That quirky fantasy becomes reality at Alali!

This one-of-a-kind evening kicks off at 32 Musa Yar’ Adua Street in Lagos on select May dates, including the 12th from 4:30-7:30 p.m. WAT. As you enter the venue, you’ll be transported to a karaoke haven where you can belt out Afrobeats/Afropop hits backed by a live band. The best voices could score fun prizes!

But the creativity doesn’t stop there. You can take a break from the mic to try your hand at the pottery station. Molding clay and painting your own masterpiece to take home as a memento. Also, while you mingle, expert mixologists will be crafting unlimited classic and innovative cocktails to keep you hydrated and vibing.

ART MEETS FASHION 2024

On June 22nd starting at 3 p.m. WAT, The Art Hotel in Victoria Island will be bringing two amazing creative worlds together in an experience that’s just going to blow you away. Sponsored by Heineken and organized by Africa Fashion Museum, the Afro event will feature exhibits of phenomenal paintings, sculptures and multimedia pieces by celebrated Nigerian artists.

A fashion show will also be held where you can see models, donning rich African couture from top fashion houses, strutting down the runway.

Between shows, visitors can shop at the on-site pop-up boutiques stocked with limited-edition apparel and accessories. Ticket prices start at €32.19, with refunds available up to 30 days before the event date. VIP packages will also be offered.

Tenstrings Ones2Watch Live Music Show

Few Afro events capture the creative future of Nigerian music quite like Tenstrings Ones2Watch. This monthly showcase at Freedom Park, Lagos Island, shines a spotlight on Nigeria’s emerging talents destined for the big stage. Now set for June 26th, the park’s outdoor venue will come alive from 6-9 p.m. WAT.

It will feature performances from fresh Afrobeats stars, soulful singers and sharp jazz acts.

I mean, these are the voices you’ll likely be hearing everywhere soon, so wouldn’t you want to experience them first?. I know I would. The event is free, however according to the organizers, “the Park will usually charge N1000 (One Thousand Hundred Naira) for access to the Park.”
